How can we be archi­tec­ting on the sca­les of natu­re? The talk is devo­ted to the visi­on to expand and reca­li­bra­te the boun­da­ries and ima­gi­na­ries that defi­ne how we live tog­e­ther and con­s­truct the built envi­ron­ment by deploy­ing arti­fi­ci­al intelligence.

Ingrid Mayr­ho­fer-Huf­nagl is an artis­tic sci­en­tist and expe­ri­men­tal thin­ker. In her work, she explo­res the inter­sec­tions bet­ween archi­tec­tu­re, engi­nee­ring, com­pu­ta­ti­on, art, and natu­re, gene­ra­ting new ide­as and expo­sing new con­nec­tions that can be “found in trans­la­ti­on.“ She recei­ved her Ph.D. in archi­tec­tu­re from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Inns­bruck, whe­re she also holds a post­doc­to­ral posi­ti­on lea­ding grant-fun­ded rese­arch pro­jects on arti­fi­ci­al intel­li­gence for archi­tec­tu­ral and urban design. Curr­ent­ly, she is an artist-in-sci­ence-resi­dent at the JRC of the Euro­pean Com­mis­si­on, whe­re she is rese­ar­ching remo­te sens­ing tech­no­lo­gies and the spec­tra­li­ty of natu­re, ques­tio­ning anthro­po­cen­tric time sca­les and processes.
